Baptism of Infants and Children

Procedures for the Rite of Baptism for Children

  • The Rite of Baptism for Children is for infants and children up to the age of six years old.
  • Custodial parents/guardians requesting to have their child baptized are required to register in the parish.
  • To register to have a child baptized, call the Director of Religious Education to schedule an appointment – custodial parents/guardians are required to attend meeting.
  • At time of the meeting a baptism registration form is completed; a consent form must be signed by custodial parents/guardians and a birth certificate obtained (a photocopy will be made from original document).
  • Attendance is required of custodial parents/guardians and godparents (if local) of one baptism class generally held the second Monday of every month from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Godparents are required to fill out eligibility forms.
  • Parents who are married whose marriage did not take place in the Catholic Church and has never been blessed or recognized by the Catholic Church are required to meet with the pastor. This is an invitation to regularize the marriage – this will NOT prevent child from being baptized.
  • Baptisms are held the second full weekend of each month on rotating masses (except during Lent) and the last Sunday of every month after the last mass (after 11:30 a.m.)
  • Tentative baptism dates may be scheduled at time of meeting, however, the baptism cannot take place until all required paperwork and the class are completed.
  • There is NO charge for baptism, for the class or for the church. Any gift that is given as a donation is gratefully accepted for the church.
  • For further information, please contact (321)727-1565.
